Shannon is serving in the President position after serving the past four years as the 1st Vice President and Treasurer respectively. Shannon is currently residing in Silver Spring, Maryland and committed to providing strategic guidance for National Alumni Association.


Johnny Cotton

1st Vice President

Johnny resides in Montgomery, Alabama where he currently serves as a member of the Montgomery Alumni Chapter. Prior to being elected First Vice-President, Johnny served as past President of the Elmore County Alumni Chapter and past Vice-President of the Montgomery Alumni Chapter. He is a former Tuba Section leader of the Mighty Marching Hornets Symphonic and Marching Band. Past President of Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity, a Free & Accepted Mason, and a active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Johnny’s goal is to foster a closer relationship between Alabama State University administration and its alumni and increase membership in the NAA. Hometown: Winter Haven, Florida.


Vanda Jones III

Marcedia Bolden

As a native of Gary, Indiana, who currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama, Marcedia received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Alabama State University. Upon graduation from ASU, she received a BS in Human Resources from Purdue University, a Master of Business Administration, and a Master of Public Administration from DeVry University.  She has over 24 years of experience in the accounting/finance world. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Traci Ausby

Farwest Regional Director

Traci Ausby currently works at the Los Angeles Unified School District Headquarters in the Division of Instruction as a Kindergarten Readiness Specialist. Traci oversees a team of Instructional Coaches and Psychiatric Social Workers that support TK-1st grade students, teachers, and families to ensure that the academic and social emotional needs of youngest learners are met and their excellence is cultivated.
Always a believer that great teachers are pivotal to student achievement, Traci is a content developer and facilitator of the first ever Reading Specialist: Early Literacy Micro-Credential. She and a team of Early Childhood specialists are in the final phases of developing an Early Childhood Micro-Credential as well. She has taken an active role in other district initiatives such as Discovery African American Channel Development Team, she’s one of the lead administrators in the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) Rollout where over 3,000 teachers and administrators participated in Cohort 1, COVID-19 Response Professional Development Content Developer and facilitator (courses taken by over 6,000 employees. Traci is a native of Mobile, Alabama, a 2002 and 2004 graduate of Alabama State, and was recently inducted into ASU’s 50 under 50 Class V.


Dionna McMillan

Dionna McMillian is a graduate of Alabama State University who resides in Los Angeles, California.  She works as a film and commercial director.  She currently serves the NAA as the Farwest Regional Representative and is an active member of the LA Alumni Chapter..

Shannon resides in Chicago, IL where he currently serves President of the Chicago Alumni Chapter.  Shannon is a Residential Service Coordinator for Urban Development Corporation where he advocates for Seniors and Persons with Disabilities to ensure quality and affordable housing. Shannon was elected Regional Representative at the November 2020 Midwest Regional Conference.

 



Donald Prater

Southeast Regional Director

Dr. Donald V. Prater was born and raised in Piedmont, AL and matriculated through the Piedmont City School System.

Donald attended The Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (1990). As a student at ASU, Donald was campus leader, serving as President of SOS Leaders, a member of the political science club, and pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Gama Beta Chapter. After graduating from ASU, Donald earned his master’s degree from Clark Atlanta University in Counseling and Human Development. He also holds an education leadership certification from Georgia State University. Additionally, Donald holds two post graduate degrees-Education Specialist and Doctor of Education-in education leadership from Argosy University Atlanta.  

Dr. Prater is a member of New Hope Christian Ministry. During his past time, he enjoys running in 5Ks, walking nature trails, volunteering/giving back to the community, and supporting his beloved alma mater (ASU). As proud father of Kaden C. Prater, who is a junior and honor student at Carver Early College (dual enrolled student Georgia State University), Dr. Prater believes that his son is the greatest gift from God. He resides in Decatur, GA with his son.



 

Kyana Cannon

Southeast Regional Representative

Ms. Kyana Cannon is a 1999 graduate of Alabama State University. She is a current  member of the National Alumni Association, Metro Atlanta Alumni Chapter. She has served in various roles to include various committees, Secretary, and Vice President. Ms. Cannon served as Miss Metro Atlanta Alumni Chapter Queen for the 2018-2019 homecoming season. Currently, Ms. Cannon serves as the NAA Southeast Region Representative.  Ms. Cannon is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and a member of Antioch AME Church. Ms. Cannon enjoys spending time with her daughter, Kamryn and serving in her community. 
 


Malcolm Mallory

Northeast Regional Director

Mr. Mallory was born and raised in Prince Georges County, Maryland and graduated with honors from Alabama State University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Mr. Mallory continued his studies at the University of Maryland Global Campus, earning his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2018. Mr. Mallory currently works as a Contracts Manager in Washington D.C. Mr. Mallory is a prominent member in the Metro DC Alumni Chapter. He is currently a part of the scholarship and awards committee which host the annual Pre-College Scholarship Program. The Pre-College enrichment program is a three-week program in which current ASU students, parents and Alumni of the university share their experiences at ASU with incoming ASU Freshmen. At the workshops conclusion we hold a scholarship and awards ceremony to recognize all participating students and award them with scholarships.

Currently residing in Lithonia, Georgia and serving his first term as President of the NAA. Erick recently retired after 27 years as a federal government employee. Prior to being elected President, Erick served as the First Vice President, and past president of the Metro Atlanta Alumni Chapter. He is a former Drum Major of the Mighty Marching Hornets Band and member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Erick’s goal is to significantly increase NAA membership through effective communications.
